Grad Talks: Glenn Doyle

‘Grad Talks’ return for a third consecutive year at PhotoIreland Festival. The aim of the grad talks is to provide a space for current and recent graduates to present and discuss the theory behind Photography in front of an audience of their peers. The secondary intent is to allow graduates to experience presenting in front of an open audience as well as responding to questions on their chosen topic. This event is free to attend. All welcome.

Glenn Doyle – The Death of Shooting Children

Glenn Doyle has been a Lecturer in the Dundalk Institute of Technology since 2003. Currently the Programme Director for the BA in Communications in Creative Multimedia, he has focused his practical love for photography with his academic background to concentrate his recent research around the issue of ‘societies changing attitude towards photographing children’. As very much part of a work in progress he hopes this talk could provide a platform for discussion regarding the research carried out thus far. He feels that this topic is very current given the recent exhibition ‘Small Lives’ at the National Photographic Archive, and raises the question as to whether we are potentially facing a society where images of children in their ‘natural’ environments will be notably absent?
